MEET OUR OFFICIANTS

Richardo Hanakoo, born on the island of Java, began officiating at weddings in Hawaii at the encouragement of friends and associates. They knew his special talent for communication and bringing people together. Now an ordained minister, here on Maui he is known for his warm and winning smile, his ability to touch people's hearts and minds with his words, and for his generosity and good humor. The wedding and commitment vows he has written have inspired many with the strength of his belief in the power of love.

Ordained by the Universal Life Church, Rev. Kuya’s non-denominational, interfaith wedding ceremony fuses traditional Hawaiian elements such as the Oli and Lei Chants and use of the Pu (Conch Shell) with Christian and Universal Spiritual Principles which pay tribute to the human divinity in us all. Reverend Kuya is known for his deeply empathic, soulful demeanor that rarely fails to moisten the eyes of the brides and grooms he is honored to marry. His easy and warmhearted style soothes even the most anxious couple’s nerves.

Reverend Joe Miles has been officiating on Maui since 2005 and he has always considered it a privilege to be a wedding officiant for it is a deep honor to share with couple their very special day.  He views performing a wedding ceremony to be like watching a sunset for each ceremony is unique and beautiful and awe-inspiring, just as the couples are. Each couple deserves the care and attention that makes their wedding their own. This is one reason Joe is so open to customizing his ceremonies: He does everything he can to make it fitting and individual for each couple.

Several years ago, Ernest was ordained by Pastor Laki Ka'ahumanu, who at that time was Pastor of Harvest Chapel in Lahaina. Ernest is a licensed officiant in the State of Hawaii and can perform your wedding or vow renewal. Getting married on Maui by Ernest ~ Hawaiian Style ~ includes the Hawaiian rituals of chanting, blowing of the Pu, and Hawaiian prayers. Ceremonies can be spiritual, non-demoninational, include your personal vows. Ernest is also a very good musician and singer. Whether it be the music that he can provide for your special day or as the officiant for your wedding, you will be happy with Ernest's style and commitment to makinig your day special and memorable.

Diana is performing weddings on Maui for almost 11 years. She performs marriages, civil unions, vow renewals and non-traditional unions. She has two ceremonies such couples can choose from. One is a “contemporary spiritual” and the other is Christian. She likes to perform ceremonies that are relaxed, spiritual yet grounded, and fun. Her ceremonies are western style and most often integrate Hawaiian spirituality and customs, such as chanting, conch shell blowing and lei exchanges. She also incorporate elements of your own personal belief system into your ceremony if you desire it.
